BREAKING NEWS

On Tuesday, February 8, 2022, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 3076 with an overwhelming bipartisan majority of 342-92. Now, it’s time for the Senate to also pass the measure. We understand that H.R. 3076 could be considered by the Senate as early as the end of next week (i.e., the week of February 14).  Although a companion bill is pending before the Senate (S. 1720), the best way to enact postal reform legislation is for the Senate to approve the House-passed version of the bill.

Therefore, we request you urge your two U.S. Senators to vote “YES” on the bipartisan House-passed bill. H.R. 3076 will help provide financial stability to the U.S. Postal Service.

Postal Service actuaries project enactment of H.R. 3076 would save the agency approximately $50 billion. The bill would repeal the onerous and punitive requirement that the Postal Service prefund future retiree health benefits, and would more effectively integrate postal health benefits with Medicare for future postal retirees (i.e., individuals who retire on, or after January 1, 2025).  In addition, H.R. 3076 would enable the Postal Service to provide certain non-postal governmental products and services, direct the agency to maintain an integrated 6-day delivery network, and require the creation of a publicly accessible online portal to monitor postal performance, by zip code.
